Where Is Nottawa Cottage Bookstore in 2026? Address, Directions, and 5 Key Visiting Tips
Many people only search for "where is Nottawa Cottage Bookstore" when they're planning a trip to Collingwood. It's not on the main shopping street in downtown Collingwood; it's in the neighboring town of Nottawa, tucked into a small cottage behind an old general store building.
If you've driven nearby but can't find it, the problem usually isn't the address—it's that the store is hidden behind a building. This guide puts together the location, how to get there, the bookstore's features, and things to confirm before your visit.
The Short Answer: It's in the Cottage Behind Nottawa General
Nottawa Cottage Bookstore is an independent bookstore located in the "Back Cottage" behind the historic Nottawa General building.
Official and store information describes it this way: walk into the cottage behind Nottawa General, and that's where the bookstore is. In other words, after you arrive at the address, head to the back of the general store building rather than looking for a standalone storefront sign along the road.
Address and Basic Information
Here are the key details first, based on the store's official website and independent bookstore listing pages:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Address | 4206 Simcoe County Rd 124, Back Cottage, Nottawa, ON L0M 1P0 |
| Phone | 705-444-1777 |
| Website | nottawacottagebookstore.ca |
| Location | Cottage behind the Nottawa General building |
| Type | Independent bookstore specializing in curated new books and gifts |
| Delivery | Free local delivery to Collingwood, Stayner, Creemore, and Wasaga Beach; website also indicates shipping across Canada |
Note that "Back Cottage" is part of the address. When navigating, you can enter the full address directly, and once you arrive, look for the cottage behind the building.
How to Get There: Just Minutes from Collingwood
The bookstore is only a few minutes' drive from Collingwood. The route is simple: follow Simcoe County Rd 124 to Nottawa, find number 4206—the address of Nottawa General—park your car, and walk around to the cottage behind the building.
If you're coming from Stayner, Creemore, or Wasaga Beach, these towns are also within the free local delivery area, which means they're all fairly close and make for a reasonable half-day trip.
Honestly, this kind of "hidden behind something else" location is the easiest to miss. My advice: navigate to Nottawa General first. When you see the general store, you've arrived—the bookstore is behind it.
What Makes This Bookstore Special? 3 Highlights
1. Staff-curated selection
The website puts it plainly: books are selected by professional staff. For people who don't want to get lost among thousands of books, a store where someone has already filtered the choices is a real time-saver.
2. A cottage space where you can sit and browse
The store describes it as a warm space where you can sit down, flip through books, and chat with fellow book lovers. It's not a big chain store where you buy and leave—it's more like a friend's study.
3. Gifts beyond books

In addition to new books, the store also offers curated gifts. If you need a souvenir or a gift that's more than just a book, you can take care of it here.
4 Things to Confirm Before You Visit
- Check the website for hours: The information we found doesn't list fixed opening hours, so it's safest to check the website or call 705-444-1777 before you go.
- Ask first if you're looking for a specific book: The selection is curated rather than massive. If you want a specific title, ask whether they can order it or reserve it for you.
- Use delivery if you can't make it in person: People in Collingwood, Stayner, Creemore, and Wasaga Beach can get free local delivery; other areas can order through the website.
- Don't overpack your schedule: The appeal here is slowing down. Squeezing it into a tight itinerary will just turn it into a quick photo stop.
